Title: The Manual: A True Bad Boy Explains How Men Think, Date, and Mate - and What Women Can Do to come Out on Top
Rating: 7/10
How I got hold of this book: Bought it at Politics and Prose.
Where I read this book: Metro, on my couch, Mayorga Cafe.
This book made me feel: Like life is more fun that I thought.
Why I like it: It advocates fun, joy, respect for yourself, but mostly fun, and it's written in terms that I can understand. Not new-age, but there is empathy between the pages.
Why I don't like it: Advocates some lying and hurting the other person to remain ahead in the relationship; come out on top. That mindset didn't make sense to me.
The plot in five words: men/fun/games/strategy/power
This book made me think of: men
Memorable character: Steve Santagati dehooking a fish
Memorable quote: Relationships are supposed to be 70 percent joy, 30 percent work - not the other way around.
Person I met while reading this book: It's so humid with all the short sleeves exposing arms and tattoos, I felt like I was back in Seattle.
Something memorable that happened in my life during the time it took to read the book: I bought lime green sandals and beautiful big silver dented disc earrings.
If I could recommend this book to one person, it would be: I think my twin would like it. Although happily married for 15 years, I think she'd get a kick out of it.
How this book changed my life: I'll think of dating as fun like a fun game time. I never thought of it like that before.
Will I read it again: Most likely
Notes: It's amazing he noted that men are always looking at us. It made me feel sexy as I never thought that I would be a constant point of observation throughout the day.
