Music Review - Jack Johnson

I recently bought Jack Johnson's In Between Dreams. It's been a while since I've been so interested in lyrics, and, yet, haven't looked at them because I've been too busy enjoying knitting while listening to the album.

I have a theory that singers who sing many words within a small time don't have the ability to sing one word for a long time, as in Bob Dylan's case, and this theory may apply here. However, within the music that is great on a sunny or rainy day, I can hear poignant words, and words that bring a situation to the now. I've just listened to the CD a few times, and I'm struck by the irony of Belle. It's just a funny song since it's in Bossa Nova groove. Other songs, just like Belle took me a few listens to appreciate them. I was actually looking for a particular song, and it's not on here. I realize it may be by another artist, but I'm still very happy that someone recommended this album to me. It's great to knit to. I think the song Banana Pancakes is rather sexy :) I'll give a look to the lyrics, but luckily Jack Johnson sings clearly enough that I can grasp a lot of them anyway without looking at the jacket.
